Mayor's Office on Aging

The Mayor’s Office on Aging (MOA) was developed to serve as an advocate for the aging population of the City of Charleston and to develop public policy to improve their lives. The office serves as a clearinghouse of resource information for older residents of Charleston and the surrounding communities. The MOA is also responsible for:

  • Conducting Senior Forums focusing on gathering input on issues and problems that impact the quality of life of senior citizens.
  • Publishing a forum report on the priority issues and action steps to be taken to address  the issues.
  • Addressing the issue of affordable, accessible transportation for senior.
  • Creating a database and resource directory of services for seniors.
  • Addressing  public policies issues that improve conditions and the quality of life of senior citizens
