On Going Relationshiop with a Caring, Responsible Adult
MentoringThe Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families offers two types of mentoring services: connecting volunteers and building capacity. Connecting Volunteers: Volunteers who are interested in mentoring a child can be connected to a mentoring program. The Be A Mentor Initiative is a community-wide campaign to recruit more mentors and connect them with children. We also offer a directory of mentoring programs, which includes a description of the mentoring program, along with the location and contact information. To learn more about mentoring in the Charleston area, visit the Be A Mentor Initiative website www.bam.sc for more information.
Mentoring Resource Center: A valuable service that BAM offers to programs is the provision of technical assistance. Technical Assistance is the process by which we help you create a program, build a stronger program, meet certain needs, or find resolutions to specific concerns. It can involve offering best-practice advice and practical solutions as a problem arises, supplying research, handbooks, or guides that can strengthen your services, the creation of networking opportunities, or face-to-face consultation/training. We want your programs to succeed. We want you to make use our services and resources for ctrating effective mentoring progrmas, building capacity, or establishing sustainability. So please utilize the resources or contact us with your questions, concerns, and needs. BE A MENTOR www.bam.sc 843-769-7715
